Mace Windu Costumes

Star Wars costumes are a perennial favorite and always popular among both kids and adults at Halloween parties. The iconic characters of the Star Wars universe are diverse and varied enough to allow a wide selection of characters to choose from. Mace Windu, portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson in the film series, is one of the most unique and immediately recognizable Star Wars Halloween costumes.

Mace Windu is a powerful Jedi Master featured prominently during the events of Episodes I, II and III. He is a powerful and high-ranking Jedi who has always had a natural knack for using the Force. Mace was recruited at a very young age from the planet Haruun Kal to serve the Jedi Order. He was actually not named by his parents, but by the Order. As a child, he was taught directly by Master Yoda.

In Episode I: The Phantom Menace, he serves on the Jedi Council and debates the fate of Anakin Skywalker with his fellow Jedi Master, Yoda. Mace Windu is a mentor and commander of lower ranking Jedi, and issues orders to fellow Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Mace Windu initially denies Qui-Gon Jinn permission to train Anakin as an apprentice.

Mace Windu costumes combine a traditional dark brown Jedi robe with Mace’s unique lightsaber. In the films, Mace Windu uses a signature violet lightsaber. It is the only light saber in the series which is not blue, red, or green. Mace Windu Halloween costumes appropriately feature this unique weapon which is sold separately. The robe is a simple but comfortable one size fits all which may be worn open over a belted martial arts style outfit or worn closed.

In Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Mace Windu again serves on the Jedi Council. This time Windu deals with the Separatists, who wish to split off from the Galactic Republic. In this film, for the first time, we get to see him engage in a very intense light saber battle. Mace Windu leads a large Jedi force against the Separatists, directly engaging in a massive Jedi versus Jedi brawl on the planet Geonosis. During this battle, Mace succeeds in killing the interstellar bounty hunter Jango Fett.

Mace Windu’s last appearance is in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Chancellor Palpatine, now revealed to be Darth Sidious engages Mace directly in light saber combat. Eventually, Mace gets the better of Palpatine and reflects the Chancellor’s own Force lightning back at him, giving Palpatine his trademark facial scars. Though he fights bravely, Mace Windu is ultimately killed by Palpatine. The Chancellor throws him out of a window after Anakin Skywalker intervenes in the struggle. Mace is remembered as an honorable, dutiful Jedi Master who always served the Council loyally, even in its last days. This Halloween, you can wield your violet lightsaber dressed in your Jedi Mace Windu costume.
